RegistrationOn-line registration is STRONGLY encouraged. On-line registration will close on August 14 5pm Alaska Time (August 15 0200 UT). Should you choose to register on-site, you can pay by credit card (VISA and MASTERCARD only), check (on US bank only), or cash. On-site registration is available 8-8:30 am on Tuesday August 21.

PostersPoster session on Wednesday afternoon August 22. Poster boards are 4 foot high by 8 foot wide (~1.2 m by 2.5 m). Refreshments will be served at poster session. Poster session will be held in Room 501 of the Akasofu Building adjoining the Geophysical Institute.

Presentations with MoviesWe would like to test any movies BEFORE the meeting, and avoid loosing time to multi-media SNAFU's. If possible we ask authors to send presentations with movies to Richard Collins at rlc@gi.alaska.edu by the evening Friday August 17, so that they can be tested before the start of the meeting.

LocationOn-site check-in will be in the front hall of the Geophysical Institute (Elvey Building). Workshop talks will be given in the Auditorium (Room 214) of the Geophysical Institute . Meals and breaks will be served in the Globe Room (Room 215). These rooms are just to the right inside the main entrance of the Elvey Building. The Geophysical Institute is easily identified by the large blue satellite dish on the roof.

Ice BreakerThe Ice Breaker at the Wedgewood Resort is from 7pm 9pm on Monday August 20. Campus maps will be available with general information about the conference. The cost of the ice breaker and refreshments has been included in the registration fee.

MealsContinental breakfast, lunch, and mid-morning and mid-afternoon coffee breaks are served on-site at the Geophysical Institute each day. Evening field trips will include dinner. The cost of these working meals and refreshments has been included in the registration fee. If you have any special food requests contact Joanna Cruzan at jmc@gi.alaska.edu.

TransportA shuttle bus will run between the Wedgewood Hotel and the Geophysical institute in the Morning and Evening. Bus transport will also be provided for evening field trips. Times will be posted in the detailed meeting schedule. If you miss the bus call Joanna Cruzan at (907) 590-1785. On arriving at Airport the Wedgewood Resort can pick you up. Please call hotel when you arrive (907) 452-1442. If staying elsewhere check with your hotel. If driving to the Geophysical Institute, please park in lot at southside of building (see map above). Parking permits will be available at registration desk.

ReimbursementIf you are young investigator who has been awarded an honorarium check for presenting a paper (oral or poster) at the LPMR-8, THE CHECK CANNOT BE ISSUED UNLESS YOU COMPLETE AND RETURN (by electronic scan or FAX) the attached Travel Status Determination Form. Please fill out (do not fill in Department information, we will do this) and return to Joanna Cruzen using Subject: LPMR8 Travel by e-mail jmc@gi.alaska.edu or by FAX with the same subject heading to (907) 474-5882 by August 14. We can assist you to cash your check at local bank if you need cash while you are here. International travellers will find this much cheaper than attempting to cash the check after they return home.
