Mary Keskinen has taught for 25+ years on the undergraduate and graduate levels, teaching mineralogy and petrology mostly at UAF but also at Smith College and at the University of California Riverside.
Prior to coming to UAF, Keskinen worked for several years with Occidental Petroleum’s geothermal program, and continues to have research interests in geothermal energy, application of mineral and petrochemical studies to P-T-time studies of metamorphic rock suites in Alaska and California, and evaluation and interpretation of hydrothermal processes in active and fossil geothermal and volcanic systems.
