Bear Creek Field Area Photos

Top: Facing south in the BC field area. The black talus (up to the cliff) is Kayak Shale, which is overlain by a thrust fault. The gray cliff is Lisburne Group. The dark unit on top of the Lisburne Group is the Permian Sadlerochit Group. Jalena (my 2002 field assistant) named this Ugly Mountain.

Bottom: The canyon with talus through the Lisburne is where the BC section was completed. The black "hole" half way up the canyon is actually 2 caves underneath a 10 m thick resistant unit within the Lisburne. This bed was resistant and unpassable wherever there was access to the outcrop. Jalena named this Cathedral Mountain.
