Resume and interview tips

Applicants need to make sure they submit all required documents as requested in the vacancy

Cover letters need to be well-written, without grammatical or spelling errors. They should enhance the resume and describe the candidate's knowledge and skills relevant to the position. A good cover letter will be tailored to the requirements and objectives of the position vacancy announcement.

Researching the department and position for which you are applying is helpful. Information can be found on the web, such as the GI and IARC websites, and various other resources. This research providesyou with a better understanding of the organization does and how the position you have applied for relates to the institute.

If you are selected for an interview, preparation should include an understanding of the organization and a strong familiarity with the position requirements. Prepare a list of questions to ask the interview committee. Questions may be about the the position, department, or benefits. Being well prepared can make a big difference in how you perform in an interview. You should present yourself professionally with a neat and clean appearance, a smile, and confidence in your ability to perform the job. Show up a few minutes early. Do not be late to an interview! (It may be advantageous to locate the office a day early so you know where to go).
During the interview, be concise, honest, and describe actual scenarios that you have experienced. The interview is not only an opportunity for the organization to assess if you are a right fit for the position, but it's also an excellent opportunity for you to determine if the position is a right fit for you.
