After cutting up ice cores for a few hours, the innards of the band saw become choked with the ice equivalent of sawdust: a fine white powder that needs to be removed. Cleaning the band saw is a privilege that all ice core cutters jump at the chance to do. We fight over the opportunity to be the last person to leave the freezer, to spend those extra few minutes in the freezing cold, knowing that the band saw will be clean and ready to use, and then have to be cleaned out again the following day. Here you see Martin renewing his acquaintaince with band saw cleaning, his skills having deteriorated and needing to be improved since he last did this five years ago.
