Patrick A'Hearn, Kim Morris and Hajo Eicken watching Adelie penguins approach. The icebreaker Polar Sea in the background is breaking a channel through the landfast ice to allow a cargo vessel and a fuel tanker to reach McMurdo Station later this month. The fuel, food and other supplies will help to keep McMurdo Station and the Amundsen/Scott South Pole Station open for the next twelve months.
