Fourteen GeeWiz team members, representing the Geophysical Institute, showed their support for the American Heart Association by raising more than $12,200 and participating in the 2013 Heart Walk in Fairbanks. 

The GeeWiz team raised the most money among the UAF teams and was the second-best at fundraising among all teams in the city. 

The 4th annual Geophysical Institute Food Drive has begun! This food drive supports the Fairbanks Community Food Bank and their mission to provide food for hungry people living in the Tanana Valley. The food drive will take place through the remainder of the month and items may be donated on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus in Elvey Room 614. The GI hopes to collect 1,000 pounds of food or more to the local charity by October 31, 2012.

In the month of October faculty, staff and students of the Geophysical Institute collected 628 pounds of non-perishable food items and $700 in monetary donations for the Fairbanks Community Food Bank. 

Come one, come all, to the GI Thanksgiving potluck! Please bring your favorite dish to share with your co-workers and friends on Tuesday, November 15. Lunch will be served in the IARC lobby and desserts will be in the GI Globe Room. So, dust off your cookbooks, sharpen up your knives, drag out the pots and pans and create that favorite recipe to share with the folks you work with. 

Participate in the 3rd Annual Geophysical Institute Food Drive! Collection bins are located on the sixth floor of the Elvey Building, near the Mail Room. Drop off non-perishable foods or make a cash donation to support the effort throughout the month of October. Cash donations will be accepted by Roberta Greenlee or Jackie Dashiell of the GI Business Office. All donations will support the Fairbanks Community Food Bank.
