The GI Staff Council sponsored Valentine's Day Flower Sale is canceled. Shipping problems with the flower wholesaler have forced this last-minute cancellation. Refunds for all pre-orders will take place in the GI Globe Room on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Alaska scientist leaves colorful legacy

Alaska scientist Davis “Dave” Sentman died in December 2011. The man who named “sprites,” colorful discharges that burst upward from thunderclouds, was 66 years old.
