Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has a virtual monopoly on air access to Fairbanks (FAI) outside the summer tourist season and is therefore the most convenient airline to book travel on. Alaska Airlines has direct flights to Fairbanks from Seattle (SEA) and Anchorage (ANC). Anchorage is directly served from both Seattle and Chicago (ORD).

Other Options

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage is served by a larger number of air carriers and offers flights to Fairbanks via Alaska Airlines. European participants may like to know that a seasonal direct flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Anchorage is available on Condor until 10 October. For those with a taste for adventure, train service is available from Anchorage to Fairbanks on the Alaska Railroad Aurora Winter Train. If you have time this is a highly recommended option.

Official Workshop Car Rental

Avis/Alaska has agreed to special rental car rates for Workshop participants. This rate is available only locally, so you must contact the Fairbanks Avis/Alaska concession directly by telephone at +1 907 474-0900 and reference the Infrasound Technology Workshop (Convention Rate Code: 00) to take advantage of these rates. This rate is not available via the web or through Avis international.
