Topics

Presentations are encouraged from all areas of infrasound research. The following topics are of particular interest:

  • IMS and IDC — Current status of IMS infrasound network implementation and IDC data processing.
  • Instrumentation and Calibration — Issues related to the performance of infrasound sensors, wind noise reduction, novel sensor technology and calibration issues.
  • Network Detection Capability — Ambient noise studies, daily and seasonal effects on noise spectra, influence of array design, network calibration with natural and man-made sources, and use of multiple technologies in analyzing sources (data fusion).
  • Data Processing — All aspects of signal detection, parameter estimation, source localization and characterization.
  • Modeling — Propagation simulations, atmospheric models and profiles, and comparisons with known ground truth events.
  • Sources — Use of known sources to test the network and individual arrays. Geophysical sources: particularly volcanos, earthquakes, and aurora. Man-made sources: particularly chemical explosions, munitions, mines.
  • Open Discussions and Recommendations — In keeping with past practice, this Workshop will conclude with a summary and discussion session.

Abstracts

Participants are encouraged to send in their abstracts prior to traveling to Fairbanks for inclusion in the meeting program. Abstracts should be sent in electronic form via email to the Convener. Presentations for the workshop will be from 20-30 minutes in length, including time for questions and discussion. The exact time will depend upon the number of abstracts received.

Proceedings

For this Workshop all presentations will be in a lecture format (there will not be any poster space available). Speakers are kindly requested to provide their presentations in digital format (preferably Power Point) for the proceedings. Digital presentations will be collected during the meeting or can be sent in advance to the Convener. Following the Workshop, a CD copy of the proceedings will be made available to all participants.
