Fairbanks adventurer and Geophysical Institute Science Writer nrozell [at] gi [dot] alaska [dot] edu (Ned Rozell) will give three talks this month as part of the Explore Alaska Lecture Series at the Fairbanks Alaska Public Lands Information Center. Rozell, who has hiked and skied across a good chunk of Alaska and who also wrote a book about hiking the length of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline with his chocolate Labrador, Jane, will speak on three consecutive Thursdays at the FAPLIC in the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center at 101 Dunkel Street, downtown. The talks begin at 7 p.m. 

October 11: Alaska Mountain Wilderness Ski Classic

Tag along with Rozell on one of Alaska's most rugged wilderness races from Nabesna to McCarthy, a route he calls "the most beautiful and starvation-inducing journey I've done." 

October 18: Surviving the Out of Doors with Your Kids

Rozell will share tips on how to have fun with your family, while being safe in the Alaska outdoors. He'll describe a canoe trip down the Yukon River from Eagle to Circle that he took with a young child as an example of a trip that offered something for everyone in the family.

October 25: Walking My Dog, Jane

As the only human and canine to hike the length of the entire trans-Alaska oil pipeline, Rozell will retrace their steps in this talk that reflects on that epic trip.
