Golden Days 2013: GI is rubber duckie ticket outlet
There are 7,000 numbered rubber duckies that will race as part of the 2013 Golden Days Rubber Duckie Race. Two tickets are sold for each duck, a $5 (pink) ticket and a $10 (yellow) ticket. Each winning duck has a $5 and a $10 winner for a combined cash purse of $15,000, with overall cash and prizes totalling more than $27,000. The Rubber Duckie Race is a long-standing Golden Days tradition and the Geophysical Institute is one of the official ticket outlets for this community event. You can purchase your tickets (cash or checks only) in the GI Public Relations Office in room 608 of the Elvey Building on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.
On July 20 at 2:30 p.m. all of the numbered ducks will be released off the Wendell Street Bridge downtown. The ducks will race down the Chena River to the Cushman Street Bridge where the first 40 ducks will be captured after crossing the finish line.
The money raised through the race benefits the Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the annual Golden Days activities in Fairbanks. The GI is a non-profit member of the GFCC.
