I apologize for reposting these announcements, however, it has been brought to my attention that some recipients are getting them garbled.

I am pleased to announce our next offering of ESRI Intro to ArcGIS I and II classes for version 9.2. Intro to ArcGIS I will be held on August 27th and 28th followed by Intro to ArcGIS II on August 29th, 30th and 31st. Classes will be held in the Geographic Information Network of Alaska (GINA) Remote Sensing Lab on UAF campus in the West Ridge Research Bldg (WRRB 004). Rates for these courses are as follows:

Intro to ArcGIS Level I = $200/seat undergrad; $400/seat grad, faculty or staff; $600/seat commercial.
Intro to ArcGIS Level II = $300/seat undergrad; $600/seat grad, faculty or staff; $900/seat commercial.

Seating is limited to 12 in each class. Please contact me at 907-750-1641 or geoapps at gci.net if you have any questions, need additional information or would like to register for either or both courses.

Also, based on the positive feedback received following the Alaska Surveying and Mapping Conference, we have decided to offer both of the short courses built and presented by GeoApps during the conference, “ArcObjects – Beyond the User Interface” and “The CAD/GIS Connection”, each as day-long workshops (8 hours) at various times throughout the summer.

ArcObjects – Beyond the UI is scheduled for June 29th 2007 and July 13th 2007. Participants of this course will learn how to employ ArcObjects in order to either broaden or streamline the application to meet specific requirements. The course will begin by covering basic modification of the ArcGIS interface, both ArcMap and ArcCatalog. It will then go over the basics of the VBA environment and how to put ArcObjects to work for you. The course will then go over creating a dynamic link library (dll) containing your customizations that can be distributed and added to any ArcMap application. The course culminates with embedding ArcGIS functionality inside of other applications (i.e. MS PowerPoint or MS Access). The course format consists of four lectures; each followed by hands on exercises that allow participants to practice the skills covered in the preceding lecture. Participants will receive a printed course workbook and a CD containing the source code used in the cours
e.

The CAD/GIS Connection is scheduled for July 18th 2007 and August 15th 2007. Now more than ever before, as GIS acceptance and implementation continues to spread across all levels of federal, state, and local government; all branches of the armed forces; into the academic and private sectors and the core of our daily lives (Google Earth for example); agencies and organizations that do most of their work in CAD are well served to take advantage of the power of GIS spatial databases. Likewise, experienced GIS professionals have long understood the usefulness and time-savings of incorporating CAD drawings during geodatabase development, as highly accurate sources of geospatial data. Whether your organization is predominantly CAD based or GIS based, it can benefit from the flow of spatial data from one to the other and back again. This course provides an overview of the hottest tools currently available to do just that; transfer data near seamlessly from GIS to CAD and CAD to
GIS.... The goal of this course is to avoid the CAD – GIS Collision in favor of the CAD ~ GIS Connection.

Each workshop is being held in the GINA RS Lab at $350 per seat. Seating is again limited to 12 attendees per workshop. I would be glad to schedule either workshop on a day of your choosing if none of these dates fit into your organization’s schedule provided a minimum of 5 attendees are registered.

Please contact me directly if you have any questions, need additional information or would like to confirm your registration.

Thank you,
