Ken Tape - MS degree in Geology - I am interested in
how changes in climate manifest themselves in the surficial processes
and distribution of vegetation over a landscape. In the late 1940s several
thousand low-altitude oblique aerial photographs were taken covering all
the major drainages in arctic Alaska. We have repeated 250 of those old
photographs from helicopter and have concluded that the shrub cover has
increased dramatically. I am also using NDVI derived from Landsat imagery
to map the distribution of alder in arctic Alaska.
