How To Get Your Poster Printed:First, we can handle the following file formats: Power Point, Corel Draw, Illustrator, .pdf, InDesign, .tiff, and if necessary Postscript. For all print jobs you should get listed on our print queue. This will ensure that you'll have temporal priority when it comes to due dates. To get listed fill-out the online form, call, or stop-by the Digital Design Center at Rm. 201 C.T. Elvey Building (a.k.a. "The GI".) If it is your first time using our service, you may want to stop by just to put faces to names and to familiarize yourself with our locale. When your poster is ready it is best if you bring in a copy of the saved original file on CD, DVD, or USB flash storage device. If you employed unique fonts, include them with your file. Please name your file with your surname to help us identify your poster! You may email or ftp your file to us, but please verify that we've received it with a follow-up phone call or email. Visiting our office in person with your file not only ensures that we get your file, but it also gives you an opportunity to ask questions and review your file for flaws before we print it. Printed posters are a very expensive media to use for editing content! Our printing price does not include design services. Design and trouble- shooting poster issues requires a work order and will be charged out at service center rates. Remember to design your poster at least 1 inch -- 2.54 cm. less than the dimension contingent on the paper widths available. For example a 3 ft. by 4 ft. poster should be actually design to be 35 inches by 48 inches to avoid potential margin issues, especially if figures or text run to this dimension's edges Attention: AGU / GI affiliates: Download the new GI LOGO here. (Note: You must login to get access! The LOGO is in the Downloads menu.) Contact CDS if you need help. Generating a Postscript file.In some cases if we have a problem printing your poster, we may ask you to generate a postscript or a pdf version of your file to print. Windows and OSX users will need to download the appropriate driver (available below) to generate a useful postscript file. Because you will not have direct access to our printer, you will need to install the printer driver with a local port choice of "FILE:" -- "Print to File". Then when you print using the HP5500PS driver, it will create a PostScript file for you. Please give your Postscript file the .ps extension.
**Sending directly to our printer is presently not available for customers. The PS driver will allow you to generate postscript files for printing your file if there are problems. ***When you select this driver, use FILE: (Print to File) as your port choice. The PS driver will enable you to turn your print job into a postscript file when you select the "print to file" option on your HP 5500PS print driver printer setup. PostScript files are a standard input into our printing workflow. You can also get the necessary driver directly from HP by clicking here. Please contact Jeff Pederson at 7572 , Melissa Guy at 7250 for more information. Calling ahead or stopping by will put you on our print queue and will insure that the printing of your poster is hastle free.
