Permafrost climate stations

Major components:
- Air temperature.
- Snow depth, ultrasonic sensor.
- Solar panel.
- Lighting rod.
- High density soil temperature array (MRC) from the surface till 1 meter depth.
- Three soil moisture probes with temperature sensors at 0.05, 0.15, 0.3 meter.
- Where possible deep boreholes to monitor long term changes in permafrost temperature.
- Datalogger
- Opperation on an houly time step for surface processes.
- Deep boreholes measured annualy.
Problems with local wildlife! in this case foxes on Banks Island NWT Canada.

Other methods
- Soil temperature measurements using HOBO loggers at a variety of depths.
- Soil liquid water content using DC resistivity.

- Ground penetrating radar (GPR).
- Borehole logs and samples.
- Surface features, thermokarst, ice wedge polygons, non-sorted circles, earth mounds, palsas, pingos, tufurs.

- Soil pits in summer and frozen soil cores in winter.
