Research Interests and Projects
Cold climate vadose zone hydrology, with biological (vegetation and microbial interactions), physical (coupled heat and moisture transfer with phase change), and chemical (redox processes and plant nutrition) interactions. Current research is on small scale modeling of non-sorted circle ecosystems dynamics in the Arctic Tundra (http://www.geobotany.uaf.edu/cryoturbation), large scale simulations of spatially distributed permafrost energy balances in Greenland and Alaska, with future scenarios of climate warming. More information can be found in: http://www.gi.alaska.edu/snowice/Permafrost-lab/projects/projects_active/proj_greenland.html also our collaborators in Denmark at http://klimagroenland.dmi.dk/index.html (in Danish), and on the Alaska Peatland Experiment (www.apex.msu.edu)
