Dave's not here

This is the web locale of Dr. David N. Covey, Programmer/Analyst at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks campus. I received my undergraduate degree here.

I don't have anything to sell you just now...

Introduction

This is my anchor on the web. I can't say exactly why but I _need_ one. I'll post a philosophical summary soon.

Work

My professional skills include scientific applications programming, Linux/Unix system administration, network support and security, and some aptitude with a slide rule. I support the campus Linux Users Group and similar efforts. I use an X-windows interface mostly but am often nostalgic for (or forced into) the old CLI to get Real Work done. My trusty old VT340 has been shelved but I still use the worlds most efficient browser, Lynx

Play

My avocations include running, fishing, skiing, bicycling, beer (brewing and drinking), and playing games on my Linux system at home. 1995 was a good year for fishing. My daughter Amy caught her first sockeye salmon on the Talkeetna River and I caught a king salmon on the Chena River that may have been my biggest fish ever.

I can be contacted at (907) 474 5913 during my working hours. There is a FAX here at (907) 474 7290; please make sure my name is on it or it might get lost in the mailroom.

In case you were wanting to ask, I do know where the Captain Beefheart info is on the web. Try the Home Page Replica . I'm certain you'll be impressed!

The following link is an experiment in junk-email collection. Though it probably won't result in any harm, I'd advise you _not_ to send a message to my cartoon dog .
