In memory of Karoline Frey March 30 1974 - March 24 2002

(left) With a masters in atmospheric science from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, Karoline spent many hours here at her desk writing her thesis on the thermodynamics of first year sea ice. Surrounding herself with pictures from home and plants which she faithfully watered, Karoline's desk-with-a-window was the envy of many of her fellow students.

Among them was this one, which we beleive was taken in her first year in Alaska.
