Interior Alaska is the Northern most range of the Rainbow Trout. The Rainbow Trout is a fish that was introduced into the area. It is a fish that is stocked in the Interior because it is not hardy enough to survive here on it's own. Truly superb Rainbow Trout fishing is best done in the Southern part of Alaska.

This photo was taken after a day of fishing at Minto Flats. Minto is one of my favorite places to fish in Alaska. The flats is a large flat area that several of the interior's rivers drain into. The Tanana, Tolovana, Tatlanika and the Chatanika rivers are a few of the rivers that flow into this area. I like to fly there in a float plane with my good friend and fishing guide, Bob Elliott. Bob can take you to a number of Interior Alaska fishing spots that are true wilderness adventures. You can go out for Rainbow Trout, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Burbot, Sheefish, Dolly Varden and Arctic Grayling.

This is a photo of a King Salmon caught in the Talkeetna River. This guy weighed in at 55 lbs. My friend in the picture is John Huffman. He is responsible for the most fantastic Salmon fishing trip in my life. On this trip we must have caught over 30 fish in the 30 - 50 lb. range.
King Salmon can be caught right here in the Chena River that runs right through Fairbanks. The fish that come here are from the Yukon River drainage. My friend Dave Covey and I fish the Chena River with much success. To see Dave with a salmon , go to his WWW page.
