This is a copper dog tag. What makes this interesting is that it was made the year after Alaska Statehood along with several other factors. The fact that the date appears on the medal along with the City. The tag also has a unique number assigned to it which indicates to me that a little research would also reveal the name of the dog and the owner. Another interesting curiousity is that this item was issued when the City had animal control powers. The local government has now transferred that chore to the Borough government instead. I of course like it because of the silly dog in the dog house picture!!
