Personal treasure found on Ebay
Besides my lifelong passion for metal detecting, Iım a collector. Antique coin banks are one of the many things I collect, and I spend countless hours surfing Ebay in search of a great deal on another specimen to add to my collection.
One day, after exhausting all my search terms, I just thought Iıd search for other things of interest mainly out of boredom. I decided to see if anyone had any relics from my hometown of Marlow, Oklahoma listed. A couple of years earlier, I had found a trade token, circa 1910ıs, from Marlow listed. Pretty neat, but I already had a better specimen of the same token that Iıd found with my detector.
I set about using Marlow Oklahomaı for the keywords. The search returned one listing. The listing read OLD real picture postcard, Marlow, Oklahomaı. I clicked on the link, and was amazed at what I saw.
There, displayed on my screen was an antique picture postcard of my parentsı house. The house I grew up in, and where my mother still resides. Itıs a historical home in relation to my town. Built in 1904, it was the home of the first doctor in this area. It was always a dream of my Dad to one day own it, and he bought it in 1963.
The postcard isnıt dated, but I suspect the photo was taken shortly after the house was built.
When I found it listed, there were still 5 days left to go before the auction closed, and they slowly dragged by. 3 other Ebay members placed bids on the card, but I was willing to pay just about anything for it. They didnıt stand a chance.
