Bob~O's version of Happy Camp

Bob~O's Version of Happy Camp Trip

Well after working most of the day Friday, I have to admit... I almost did'nt go to Happy Camp. Boy want a mistake that would have been.I got home at 3:00 threw my gear in my Toyota and off I went. I finally left at 4:15 PM Marcie told me that it was a 6 hour trip, shoot I'll get there by 10:30, no problem! As I drive I wonder what kind of people travel hundreds even thousands of miles to meet other people that are really strangers. I was'nt sure but I knew I was one, and I knew I was ok. As I cruised into town I thought hummm where are they? I asked the local cops, they where useless. I found my self looking for Arizona, Oregon,Utah and Alaskan plate's on cars. NO SUCH LUCK. I found Pro Mack, Dave MaCrakens store.... YES! maybe they left a message. There they were some place called South Fork, Indian Creek. Where the heck is that? Hey there's a couple of guys next door I 'll ask them. HA~HA I had to pick the town drunks, but they knew about the group and where they were. They wanted to make a deal , it was getting late and they wanted a ride home. Frank said " we'll take you up there Bober's" So I thought If I had to I could wip these guys since they we're snockerd. Ok GUYS ...LETS GO! As I drove I sliped my wallet under the seat just in case and tried to recall where my crow bar was. Man what a ride! When Frank said pull in this gravel pit I said to myself "ok Bob this is it!!! this where you die" But you know that guy drove me right to my new friends. There they were... just like there pic's.

The first one I saw was Jesse laughing his head off. Then RC and Laura , I quickly made my intro's and then off again with another adventure with the two drunks. I took them up to a place called the China Jade Mine. And then back to my new home for the weekend. We talked til 2 or 3 in the morning.

As the weekend passed I realized these people were not strangers, they were just as I pictured them to be...Jesse's happy personality, Jim and his detectors, he needed a 5 man tent for all of them. Laura... a great cook, very good moose burrito's! Q...a hard working man who never gave up panning. Suzan{ca} and her nice family, I sure could tell she love's her dad. Suzan {az} wow what a gal.... quiet but when she talks we listened ..Cat all ways nice and friendly. And then there's RC a meek man... you would never know his vast knowledge of detectors, until you talked to him one on one, or saw his van full of them. There must have been 20 in there. What a group!!! I am glad I got to meet all of you!!....:)

It seemed I just got there and I had to leave..I wished I could have stayed longer.I did get to do some panning and a little detecting but with no good finds.I guess the only treasure I found was my new friends.See ya all next time ... Bob~O
