Since many of the parks would be crowded today with holiday activities I decided to detect in my local fairgrounds, where the county fair was held last week. I have been there a few times and usually found about $1 worth of clad coins and silver ones were rare. After getting a little over $2 and spending several hours I was about ready to quit when my XLT registered about 87 and depth of 3.5 inches. When I dug the signal disappeared, so I enlarged the hole to see that wonderful glint of silver. What a nice surprise to dig up a Liberty Walking half in XF condition. Using my custom program I found an AU 1964 Roosevelt, so I felt my program was worth continuing. Shortly after I dug up the half I walked over to another section of the fairgrounds and found a $5 bill. With Miss Liberty and Mr. Lincoln's portrait tucked in my pocket what a nice way to celebrate a patriotic day.Total coins without the $5 was $4.26. Here are the specs if you want to try your luck.

Today I detected at a town park where a large festival had just closed. I was there early and was surprised to see no other detectorists. I had not detected at any sites where there had been amusement rides but found quite a few coins before I was joined by three other detectorists including Maxie Harper, whom some of you may know. When I quit for the day I had 180 coins ($15.3l) One of the coins was a 1950-D Roosevelt, 5-1/2 inches deep. When I checked the DC phase before I dug it read negative, but with a reading of 83+I rechecked and the DC phase went to a positive number. I also increased the VDI Sensitivity to 86. This park has been hunted often, but apparently not worked out as I was rewarded with another silver dime. So, the silver program is still working!
