Mandatory training isn't just a compliance checkbox. It’s an essential way we build a shared understanding of how to create a welcoming environment, protect our GI community, ensure a respectful workplace and safeguard university resources, while empowering employees with the support to do these things.This message is a reminder of several important UAF training requirements and upcoming training opportunities. Please review the information below and ensure all applicable training is completed by the stated deadlines.
UA Safe Title IX training
All UAF faculty, staff, and students are required to complete the UA Safe Title IX Training annually. The training is available through Canvas and must be completed by October 31, 2026.

This mandatory training is based on university policies and has been adapted to meet the needs of both employees and students. The course covers sensitive topics related to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and reporting responsibilities.
If you have questions about the course content or would like to request release from the training requirement, please contact the UAF Title IX Office directly.
Protection of Minors training
The Protection of Minors Training is required for employees, volunteers and others whose university activities involve minors.
Requirements:
- Must be completed by all employees within 30 days of hire.
- Must be renewed every three (3) years thereafter.

Please ensure your certification is current and complete any required refresher training as soon as possible.
Respect in the Workplace training
The Geophysical Institute encourages all employees and students to attend the upcoming Respect in the Workplace training sessions. Although this training is not mandatory, the GI Director highly encourages everyone to attend, and looks forward to seeing you there. Supervisors, please encourage your employees to attend.
