GINA Satellite Users Engagement Workshop

The Geographic Information Network of Alaska (GINA) is hosting a workshop focused on remote sensing data for information and applications in Alaska. Satellite data products and services can support research, resource management, and decision-making to understand, manage and protect ocean and coastal resources.

NOAA CoastWatch helps people access and use global and regional satellite data products for ocean and coastal applications. PolarWatch is the CoastWatch Regional/Thematic Node that serves the needs of high-latitude users and stakeholders.

The purpose of the workshop is for NOAA CoastWatch and PolarWatch to gain a better understanding of the needs and challenges of the communities of Alaska and to raise awareness in the community of how remote sensing data can be exploited to serve their purposes. Members of academic research institutions who directly collaborate with CoastWatch will give overviews of services and resources, and participate in engagement sessions with local stakeholders.

This workshop will be held May 5-8, 2025, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute (Elvey Building,2156 Koyukuk Drive, Fairbanks, AK 99775).
