Objectives/Meeting Information

The Pogo Geology Symposium seeks to gather curious minds from academia and industry alike to facilitate an exchange of information and excitement about the world-class Pogo Au deposit. The event, funded by Northern Star Resources and hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute and Department of Geosciences, emphasizes the value of different kinds of knowledge (fundamental scientific theory, operational experience, and applied geology) and seeks to demonstrate how each type can be important for mining. Each sector will have the opportunity to present its perspective to the others and to learn from one another. The schedule is designed to give an overview of previous and ongoing Pogo research and operations, with an eye towards the future.
