Elvey parking lot block heaters: Please park in the right spot!
Brrr, it's cold outside and rapidly getting colder! If you drive to work you're probably going to be plugging in your car. Here is more information about how the block heater outlets work on campus. Use the block heater outlets as a guide for parking:
- The block heater outlets in front of Elvey and Akasofu in lot 9B can accommodate three vehicles on each side; one car should park directly in front of the post, and then one to the immediate right or left so that everyone's electric cords can reach an outlet.
- When parking behind Elvey/WRRB/Akasofu in lots 9S or 9E, and some outlets directly in front of Akasofu in lot 9B, please park to the immediate right or left of the outlet post in front of your vehicle because they are designed to accommodate only two vehicles per side.
When the temperature is -25 F and below, the block heater outlets are powered all the time. Power to the outlets is cycled at temperatures between 20 F and -25 F. Information about the cycles is available on the Facilities Services Parking Lot Outlets webpage.
The UAF Campus Map shows the location of parking lots, shuttle stops and more.
If you notice dangerous conditions in the parking lots or the outlets are not functioning as expected, please contact Operations at x7411 or Facilities Services at x7000.
