Alaska Science Forum

Weekly column in cooperation with the UAF research community.

A few weeks ago, as my friend Forest and I rode our bikes on the vast white sheet of the frozen Yukon River downstream of Galena, the river forced us into a 90-degree hard left.

UNALAKLEET — Winter finally ran out on us.

KALTAG — A few hours ago, Forest Wagner and I shoved our loaded bikes up a ramp of snow and onto Front Street.
